A lyrical and slowly steeped end to the Book of Tea duology.
We re-join Ning and Kang as they stand on different sides of the events at the end of A Magic Steeped in Poison. Ning and the exiled princess travel the kingdom searching for allies who understand the threat that the banished prince represents to the health and safety of its citizens. Told from dual POVs, we get to see more of the inner workings of Kang and the pressures he’s facing. Lin weaves their stories together with utterly lush yet readable prose that fills you with warmth like the best fresh cup of tea. The stakes in this book felt just as high as the first – and certainly deserved a whole book to explore!
I can’t wait to read what Lin writes next, her characters are ones that linger with you and deserve a re-read!
